The Music 4 team heads down to Abbey Road Studios to create the new sound of Absolute Radio (no pressure then!)Ahead of the session, Breakfast DJ Christian O'Connell does some pieces to camera for the Absolute Radio websiteAnd down in the live room, Absolute Radio's Geoff Lloyd enjoys the opportunity to bang out some tunes on Abbey Road's grand piano... he's a great player as you can tell by the small audience surrounding him!Meanwhile, the bosses and new owners of Absolute Radio, including Clive Dickens, wait in anticipation in the control room at Studio 2We're using some of the most classic microphones available at Abbey Road......and even the same microphone amplifiers used to record many of the Beatles' biggest hit records!Down in the live room, Dave Arch (our arranger for this project) warms up his fingers...he's also playing all the piano and organ parts...talking of organs... here's Abbey Road's HammondGuitarist.... readyDrummer.... readySo, we're ready to go...mobiles off please!and the recording begins (the drummer and guitar player are hidden behind the back screens!) Finally...we add in some strings and things from the string quartet. Small string sections like this rather than big orchestras are featured on many Beatles tracks and, more recently, Oasis records (also recorded in Studio 2 at Abbey Road) ... then it's back to Music 4 to do all the mixing and editing.
